Thank you to everyone who joined us for our March FIA Luncheon featuring Esther George, former President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Held at Neff Packaging, she shared insights on current economic conditions, her work with the KC 2026 World Cup efforts, and updates on the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Esther George served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and as a member of the Federal Open Market Committee from 2011 to 2023. Her career at the Federal Reserve spanned more than 40 years and included extensive experience in bank supervision. In 2009, she served as the Federal Reserve’s Acting Director of Banking Supervision and Regulation in Washington, D.C.
She played a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the nation’s payment system, including leading efforts to establish instant retail payments through the FedNow Service. She also hosted the Kansas City Fed’s annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium.
As President and CEO, she led a workforce of more than 2,100 employees serving the seven states of the Tenth Federal Reserve District, with operations based in Kansas City and branch offices in Denver, Oklahoma City, and Omaha.
George currently serves as Chair of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and sits on the boards of Hallmark, the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, and the Kansas City 2026 World Cup.
