Meet Andrew Ferris, CFO at BPU

Andrew Ferris is Chief Financial Officer for the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU), the community-owned utility serving Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County. Since January 2025, he has led enterprise financial strategy and governance supporting reliable, affordable electric and water service. With more than 11 years at BPU—including leadership roles in electric and financial supply planning—Andrew brings deep expertise in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market, generation portfolio strategy, and long-range resource planning. He is known for a disciplined approach to building and managing a well-diversified portfolio that is grounded in reliability while advancing financial and environmental stewardship. Andrew is widely regarded within BPU as a leading power and energy strategist and a trusted thought leader to the organization’s leadership team.
