The B25-D Mitchell Bomber is flying home for the first time, since being built in Fairfax in 1943, for the Fairfax Festival taking place on 10/7/21. The Fairfax Festival is a community event hosted by FIA at the historic Kaw Point Park in the Fairfax District. This year’s festival will include live music, boat rides, beer/wine garden, food, meet the B25-D pilots, Rosie Riveters, door prizes, lawn game tournament, photo booths and more! As an added bonus, the B25-D Mitchell Bomber plane will do a fly over at 4pm during the festival.
On 10/4/21, the B25-D will fly in to Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport. FIA and the KCK Chamber will host an exclusive VIP event to welcome home the B25-D. We are raffling off one of the six tickets to ride on an exclusive VIP flight on this historical bomber with the “Rosie’s Reply” artwork on the nose of the plane.
Deadline to purchase raffle tickets online was 9/07/21. We had the drawing at the FIA September luncheon.
Check out this recent video highlighting real-life Rosie the Riveters as they share their experience making these planes and the unveiling of the new plane art design.
