In response to the increased COVID-19 cases in Wyandotte County, officials with the Unified Government Public Health Department issued a new Local Health Officer (LHO) Order requiring the public to wear masks when in public. The order went into effect on 6/30/2020. Click here to view guidelines.
Some key areas of this order:
- When in a public indoor space (including a workplace, business, place of worship, or public facility such as a community center or library) individuals are required to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth.
- When in a public outdoor space or when using public transportation, taxis or ride-sharing services individuals are required to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth.
- There are some exceptions including those who are deaf or hard of hearing as well as young children and persons with a medical condition that prevents wearing a face covering.
