Meet Tracy Whelpley

Tracy Whelpley is the Director of Regional Impact for KC2026, where she collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that maximize the economic impact of the FIFA World Cup™—both in the short and long term. She brings over 25 years of experience in brand marketing, sponsorship activation, place branding, regional business attraction, and industry cluster development.

Tracy returns to Kansas City after several years in St. Louis, where she served as Senior Vice President at Greater St. Louis, Inc. In this role, she was a lead strategist and director for STLMade, a multi-year initiative designed to enhance business and talent attraction efforts in the region. She also played a pivotal role in developing and implementing the GeoFutures Strategic Roadmap, a 10-year plan to position St. Louis as a global leader in geospatial technology and innovation.

Throughout her career as a B2C and B2B marketing strategist, Tracy has worked with global leaders in technology, agriculture, mobility, and consumer products to drive market growth. She excels at translating market data, behavioral insights, and creative intelligence into compelling brand strategies that engage audiences and inspire measurable action.

She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia and a Master’s in Marketing from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Known for her collaborative leadership and proven ability to drive high-impact regional marketing initiatives, Tracy is committed to ensuring that Kansas City’s investment as a host city generates lasting economic benefits—uniting, elevating, and propelling the region onto the national and global stage.
