Property Appraisals in Fairfax
As many of you know, several property owners received 50-70% increases in 2018 on their property appraisals which of course meant 50-70% increases in their taxes owed. A few were even greater than this. One Fairfax business has already decided to leave Fairfax and move to the Missouri side because of their increase.
Some of these same property owners received another 15-20% increase in 2019. These extraordinary type increases make it difficult for businesses to budget for or afford.
If your business/property has received significant increases, please let us know by Fri, 2/7/20.
Our FIA partner, the KCK Chamber, will be visiting with legislators in Topeka this Tuesday, 2/11/20. We would like to send a packet which will include letters from each business that has experienced these increases and ask these legislators to take a hard look at the way properties are assessed and taxed in Kansas. This is not just a Fairfax issue but an issue across the state of Kansas and will be a hot topic in Topeka this year.
Please take a minute to send us a letter including details of the percentage and dollars your property has increased. Send your letter here by 2/7/20.
